Our Story · Wood Street, Walthamstow
A Turkish family kitchen, now on Wood Street
Ottomans opened on Wood Street in 2026 a charcoal grill built around one idea: fire first, and everything else follows. This is the food we grew up on, cooked the way it should be.

The ocakbaşı
Everything begins at the hearth
The ocakbaşı, the charcoal hearth, sits at the centre of everything we do. Skewers are threaded by hand and cooked to order over glowing coals, so the lamb, chicken and köfte come to the table smoky at the edges and still tender in the middle.
Around the grill, our mezes are made fresh: hummus and cacık whipped smooth, breads baked and brought out warm, salads dressed the moment they're ordered. All our meat is halal, and nothing leaves the kitchen that we wouldn't put in front of our own family.
We're a family-run kitchen on Wood Street in Walthamstow, a neighbourhood grill for eating in, or collecting to take home.
